This picture of my Mom was taken in 1994, the year my Jessica was born.
Wanted to add the story about this picture...
June 3rd my daughter Jessica was born. June 15th was my Grandmothers 75th birthday. She lived in Port St Lucie Florida and there was a big surprise party planned. We were attending. Mom, Baby Jessica and myself and I think Christie too. We drove to Florida and showed up at Grandma's brothers house just a little bit before the party and we got all dressed up and ready. Hid in the bedroom. Once Grandma got there and she was sat down in her birthday chair, they told her they had a surprise for her and she had to close her eyes and hold out her arms. She did just that. She was so pretty sitting there not knowing what she was about to get!! I walked out and placed Jessica in her arms. She was SO surprised, she starting crying as we all did!!
You Mom looks like a Movie Star!
ReplyDeleteDoesn't look old enough to be a grandma but I
know she loves your gals.
Sure is beautiful - and she still is! ♥
Yep, Christie was with us, too. We drove straight thru'---20 hrs. +---had short naps before getting into our finery....only one "guest" was there (Mom's BFF) with her camera. When Mom opened her eyes and saw her first ggd, it was a flood of tears and emotion. She remembered nothing else about the party!!!! We stayed until the following night and then hot the road for the through-trip home. Tired but happy!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat an awesome writing and a holding of space for your MOM CARO. Thank you very much. Touched to see LYNN's writing of how she also remembered the day...TERRIFIC.
ReplyDeleteWell, I got tears in my eyes reading the story. We did the same thing with Zach. It was Mother's 90th birthday and Zach was
ReplyDelete2 1/2 months old. Mother knew there was a party but did not know how big it was going to be and who was coming. Before her party, we did the same thing with Zach. Michael walked in and handed her Zach. She was sitting in her chair and I will never forget her words "I won't drop him." She died 4 months later.
Lolly, Now you have me in tears. So glad that Mother was able to see Zach and hold him. Awww, love the memories!
